In 2013, Matt Bachmann walked into a grad school classroom carrying a travel mug of homemade cold brew coffee and met Ben Gordon, who was sitting with a leather-wrapped mason jar filled with his own homebrew. A fast friendship turned into fanaticism, an obsession with coffee that set the two off on what has now been a four-year journey to create the best-tasting cold brew products possible and bring them to market in innovative ways.

Founded in 2014, Wandering Bear Coffee is now sold in over 750 retailers, including Target, Costco and Whole Foods and is distributed nationally to offices and via their website.

In this interview, Matt talks about how fanaticism can be an asset in an entrepreneur’s journey, as well as a well thought out and executed channel mix strategy has helped Wandering Bear coffee grow in the right manner.
